The Entrepass allows eligible foreigners to start and operate a business in Singapore. Read on to understand who is eligible for the Entrepass and how to go about applying for it.

Who is eligible for the Entrepass

Entrepass is open to all nationalities. You can apply for the Entrepass if you:

  • Have started or intend to start a private company registered with ACRA
    • If registered, the company must be less than 6 months old on the date of application
    • If not registered, you may proceed to do so after knowing the outcome of your application.
  • Meet any of the following criteria for application as an entrepreneur, innovator or investor. (You do not need to meet all of the criteria but having more qualifications will help your application.)

 

Entrepreneur

Has funding from a government recognized VC or business angel

The company has raised funding of at least $100,000 from a government investment vehicle, venture capitalist (VC) or business angel that is recognized by a Singapore Government agency.

Is an incubatee at a government recognized incubator or accelerator

The company is an existing incubatee at an incubator or accelerator in Singapore that is recognized by the Government.

Has a strong business network and entrepreneurial track record

You have significant business experience or network and have a good track record of starting highly scalable businesses.  You intend to establish, develop and manage a new or existing business in Singapore.

To qualify for the above, you must fulfill any of the following:

  • You have founded and sold a tech company
  • You have raised significant funding from investors for a current or past project
  • You have been or currently being incubated by an internationally renowned incubator or accelerator
  • You have strong industry networks and business contacts relevant to your proposed business
  • You have received recognition by a national body, recognized media publication or credible industry organization for your professional, business or entrepreneurial achievements and track record

 

Innovator

Holds an intellectual property

You or your company holds an intellectual property (IP) that can deliver a significant competitive advantage to your business which cannot be replicated easily. The intellectual property must be registered with an approved national IP institution.

Has research collaboration with an IHL or research institute in Singapore

Your company has an ongoing research collaboration with a research institution such as the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR), Institutes of higher learning or recognized non-profit and private-sector research groups.

The research ought to be related to your proposed business and you must be involved in the on-going research collaboration.

Has extraordinary achievements in key areas of expertise

You have exceptional domain expertise and/or received international recognition in an area related to your proposed business.

 

Investor

You are willing to invest a substantial amount of money in a new or existing local company in Singapore. You must either have a track record of growing highly scalable businesses or have substantial experience as an executive in a large corporation.

 

Businesses That Are Not Eligible

  • Coffee shops, hawker centers, food courts.
  • Bars, night clubs, karaoke lounges.
  • Foot reflexology, massage parlors.
  • Acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, herbal dispensing businesses.
  • Employment agencies.
  • Geomancy business.
