Singapore offers four main types of work permits for trainees or students to work in the country:
- Training Employment Pass
- Work Holiday Pass (under Work Holiday Programme)
- Work Holiday Pass (under Work and Holiday Visa Programme)
- Training Work Permit
Besides these work permits, there are other types of permits (long-term and short-term) for foreigners to work in Singapore.
Training Employment Pass
Training Employment Pass is catered to foreign professionals undergoing practical training. Applicants are required to have a monthly salary of over $3,000. The duration of the pass is valid for 3 months.
Work Holiday Pass (under Work Holiday Programme)
Work Holiday Pass (under Work Holiday Programme) is catered to foreign students and graduates aged 18 to 25 who want to work and holiday in Singapore for 6 months. There is a quota of 2,000 places at any one time.
Work Holiday Pass (under Work and Holiday Visa Programme)
Work Holiday Pass (under Work and Holiday Visa Programme) is catered to Australian students and graduates aged 18 to 30 who want to work and holiday in Singapore for 1 year. The pass is only issued once and cannot be renewed. There is a quota of 500 places at any one time.
Training Work Permit
Training Work Permit is catered to semi-skilled foreign trainees or students undergoing practical training in Singapore. The duration of the pass is valid for 6 months. Employers may be subject to quota and levy for each Work Permit holder.
